The Egyptian General Authority of Survey defines Fajr at 19.5° below the horizon and Isha at 17.5° — the Egyptian method used here and the default for much of Africa and parts of the Levant. Its Fajr comes earlier than the Muslim World League's, by around ten minutes in Cairo in midsummer.
Egypt reintroduced daylight saving time in 2023, and it shows in the year's figures: Fajr is earliest on the last morning before the clocks go forward at the end of April, not near the summer solstice, because the clock change moves every prayer an hour later overnight. The year-ahead table below is already in local clock time, the change included.
